Not long ago, on January 1, 2023, our team traveled to Snihurivka for the very first time to provide much-needed dental care to people who had endured more than eight months under occupation.

At that time, the town was still bearing the scars of war. Many buildings had been damaged or destroyed, electricity and running water were unreliable, and even the local church had been hit during shelling.

For months, the people of Snihurivka and the surrounding villages had little to no access to dental care. The ongoing stress, harsh living conditions, and poor water quality had taken a serious toll on their oral health.

During that first mission, our small team—made up of two dentists, dental assistants, and chaplains—was able to care for around 30 patients. While we were grateful to help, it quickly became clear that the need was far greater than we could meet at the time.

Recently, we had the opportunity to return to Snihurivka. This time, our team included five dentists, dental assistants, nurses, and chaplains, allowing us to serve many more people than before.

During this mission, we were able to:

• Treat 115 patients

• Restore 198 teeth

• Perform 54 professional dental cleanings

• Complete 26 root canal treatments, including 8 on multi-rooted teeth

• Restore 9 teeth after root canal treatment using fiber posts

• Perform 62 tooth extractions

  
  

Throughout the mission, it was a privilege to care for everyone who came to us. Our patients included not only residents of Snihurivka and nearby villages, but also people who now carry the responsibility of protecting and serving their communities.

To us, every patient is first and foremost a person created in the image of God—worthy of dignity, compassion, and high-quality care.

Throughout the week, our chaplains spent time talking with patients, praying with those who wished to pray, and offering spiritual and emotional encouragement. We believe our calling goes beyond treating teeth. Through practical acts of service, we seek to share God's love and bring hope to those who need it most.
